The Empty Block is what appears when Mario hits a Question Block or Brick Block to remove whatever was inside. The Empty Block becomes a Coin under the effects of a P-Switch, and otherwise can only be broken by Mario using the Big Mushroom or a large Shell. This Block just acts like softer Ground.
